Shady Grove is a traditional American/Appalachian bluegrass and old-time tune, with suspected deeper/more ancient Celtic roots. The melody is deceptively simple, with two phrases and typically only three chords.
It's not just a beautiful tune, but also an incredible tool for learning and teaching groove playing and musicianship. The simplicity allows us to explore all the rhythmic interior of the groove and find endless variations in melody and accompaniment.
